Visit to Skagen Museum

Before the serious festivities begin, join Margo and Christian for a guided tour of the Art Museum of Skagen. The museum is home to the collection of masterpieces by members of the Scandinavian artists colony, “the Skagen Painters,” who were active in Skagen at the end of the 19th century. The Skagen Painters are credited for bringing a spotlight to Skagen, making it the popular Scandinavian vacation destination it is today. A small museum with a remarkable collection, a visit to Skagen Museum is a great first stop for guests who are interested in gaining a larger picture of the history and culture of the region.
Please arrive at the museum for a 12 HR tour start.
Welcome Barbecue

Join Margo and Christian and their families for a casual dinner hosted by the Crawford-Sharkey family. Enjoy a traditional Danish Summer barbecue and discover the true meaning of “hygge,” with an open fire and flowing rosé and plenty of beer. This event is intended to be a casual get-together for guests to mix, mingle, and settle in to Skagen.

Morning Yoga

LOCATION: Sønderstrand by the lighthouse – Entrance by Østre Strandvej 101
DRESS CODE: Athletic/casual
Enjoy a morning of light yoga on the beach with a Skagen-based instructor. All levels are welcome to join. Towels and yoga mats will be provided. Guests can enjoy a quick dip in the ocean before a walk into town for breakfast.
Post-Yoga Breakfast
TIME: 10:30 HR (following beach yoga)
LOCATION: Baghaven at Anchers Hus Markvej 4
DRESS CODE: Casual
Following beach yoga, sit down for a light meal and coffee. All guests are welcome to join, even those who did not participate in beach yoga.
Beer Olympics & Barbussen
TIME: 19:30 HR Beer Olympics Start; 23:00-01:00 HR Bar Bus
LOCATION: Guest House at Østre Strandvej 23
This event is a combination of Danish lawn bowling and North American beer olympics. Beer olympics is a round-robin style drinking game tournament that became a Summer tradition within Margo’s Iqaluit friend group. Danish lawn bowling is also a drinking game, but played on a lawn, seated, and by rolling soccer balls. This event will sample the best of both traditions. Following the beer games, attendees are invited to hop on a mobile bar bus to continue the party and enjoy a midnight stop at the Grenen park.

Visit to Grenen
TIME: 16:00 HR
LOCATION: Skagen Grenen – Grenen Kiosk Fyrvej 38, 9990 Skagen, Denmark
DRESS CODE: Casual/Beachwear – layers encouraged.
Guests are invited to ride a private Sandormen (a sand bus referred to as a “sandworm”) to the Grenen. Enjoy the beach where the seas meet. The waters are chilly, though swimming and bathing in the waters are popular tourist activities – if water currents permit. Guests may prefer to enjoy walking the sandy coastline. If you plan to take a dip in the ocean, please bring a towel. The Sandormen will drive guests to the Grenen, wait an hour and then drive back. Guests may also walk back on their own, the walk is approximately 1 km across sandy hills. Rosé, white wine, and water will be served.

Day of the Wedding
Wedding Ceremony

DRESS CODE: Semi-Formal – Church appropriate. Daytime hats or fascinators encouraged.
During the wedding ceremony we ask that guests refrain from using cell phones to take photos.
Reception

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, guests will be transported by chartered bus to Ruths Hotel for a daytime reception. Canapés and champagne will be served.
Pre-Dinner Drinks

Prior to the sit-down meal guests are invited to join the newlyweds for a pre-dinner drink in the foyer of Ruth’s Hotel. The featured cocktail will be a Lillet Spritz, a Ruths Hotel classic.

Wedding Dinner

Join the newlyweds for a celebratory dinner at Ruth Hotel’s renowned Okê Restaurant. Enjoy a multi-course gastronomic experience crafted by Chef Jack Cramer.
Speeches and celebratory traditions will be led by toastmaster Benjamin Hansen, a dear friend of the groom. Guests should expect a mixture of English and Danish speeches. Traditionally, the dinner is the crown jewel of a Danish wedding celebration. Guests from outside Denmark should be aware that the dinner is a substantial length, up to five hours. However, the toastmaster will schedule ample breaks throughout the sitting.
Following the sit-down meal the dance floor and bar will be opened. A midnight snack will be served for guests whose merriment extends late into the night.
